No. As a vertically integrated manufacturer with more than 43,000 employees we are able to ensure that all of the Gildan facilities adhere to our strict internal code of conduct, local & international laws and the codes of WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production) and the FLA (Fair Labor Association). All of Gildan’s sewing facilities are certified with the Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) or are currently in the process of being re-certified. WRAP is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and certification of lawful, humane and ethical manufacturing throughout the world. WRAP promotes 12 principles that ensure that core labor concepts are understood and practiced on the shop room floor and by management. WRAP relies upon independent, third party monitors to certify that factories are in compliance with WRAP's set of principles.

Gildan cannot provide a C.O.O. Certificate for a specific garment as we do not place a unique identifier on the garment labels, mainly due to a lack of space. The exception to that is children’s apparel as regulated under the CPSIA guidelines wherein we have placed an identifier code on each label which can be used to track the specific site of the final assembly of the garment. As Gildan manufactures almost everything we sell in our own facilities we can also provide documentation outlining the specific possible supply chains of all our styles. If you would like one of these documents, please send your request to firstname.lastname@example.org. If an actual C.O.O. Certificate is required, please contact your local Chamber of Commerce to acquire it.
Gildan currently has a very broad network of Wholesale distributors in the US, Canadian, European and Mexican markets and is not looking to expand on those networks at this time. Our wholesale distributors have been carefully selected and sell only blank garments. If you feel there is a need in your local area for enhanced distribution we recommend you send an email to email@example.com.
Gildan makes every effort to ensure that our colors are consistent across every fabric we produce. Due to the nature of the various knit constructions and the various reflective properties of our range of fibers there is a possibility that a shade may look slightly different when produced in a 50% cotton/50% polyester fabric blends as opposed to a 100% cotton garment. Flat knit constructions such a basic jersey knit also may present a slightly different shade of a color than raised knits like fleece or double pique fabric. It is always recommended to obtain a sample of the garment in question to properly asses the exact color.

Gildan® primarily manufactures blank t-shirts, sport shirts and fleece products. We sell our products mainly to wholesale distributors who then sell them to various resellers, including screenprinters, advertising specialty distributors, embroiderers and various other customers. If you wish to purchase decorated products, we recommend you contact a local garment decorator, embroiderer, screen printer or promotional products distributor.
Gildan® manufactures blank products. As we are often two and three times removed from the company that applied a specific design, we recommend that you contact the store or business where you acquired the product.
If you purchased the shirts from one of Gildan® wholesale distributors, contact that distributor and they will work with you on the return. If the product was not bought directly from a distributor, please send us details on the product and issue to email@example.com. We will then quickly respond to your email.

In the manufacturing of circular knit tubular rolls of fabric the edges of the fabric rolls are slightly marked in the handling of the rolls. In order to ensure that this crease is not visible in the center of the garments we rotate the fabric roll ¼ of a turn before cutting the final patterns.
The yarn count designates the cross section dimension of the yarn. Similar to electrical wiring, the larger the number, the smaller the yarns. There is an inverse relationship between the number and the weight. An 18/1 (18 singles) yarn weight weighs more than a 30/1 yarn, for instance. A 1/1 yarn is 840 yards of yarn (one Hank) that weighs one pound. A 10/1 yarn is 8,400 yards (10 Hanks) of yarn that weighs one pound. An 18/1 yarn is typically used to knit 5.6 to 6.1 ounce of jersey fabric. A 20/1 yarn is typically used for 5.3 ounce to 5.5 ounce of jersey fabric.
Yes, Gildan® products, as all knit products shrink. Knit fabrics inherently shrink back to the knit density they emerged from the knitting machine with. Throughout the textile and sewing processes these fabrics are subject to tension which pulls open the knit density somewhat. Upon first several washing and drying the fabric will almost always shrink back to that exact density it was originally knit to. Gildan targets very specific shrinkage numbers, typically less than 4% in width 6% in length of any 100% cotton fabrics through a variety of measures ranging from specialized handling equipment to our final textile process called compacting. In this process we run the fabric through 2 rollers turning at different speeds. This effectively compacts the knit of the fabric back close to the original density. The result of this is we manage to control the amount of shrinkage our garments will do once worn by our customers
As Gildan controls the entire process, from raw cotton to finished garments the answer is as follows:
• Our yarns mostly use US cotton and are generally spun in our yarn spinning plants in the USA
• Those yarns are sent to our textile facilities in Honduras and the Dominican Republic to be knit, dyed, finished and cut into fabric parts for sewing. The cut parts from Dominican Republic are either sewn in Dominican Republic or Haitian sewing facilities. The cut parts from Honduras are either sewn in Honduran or Nicaraguan sewing facilities. Gildan also operates a small facility in Bangladesh which makes the textiles and sews the final garments in one location.
Gildan does not actively manufacture products with other brands labels inserted. We produce garments bearing our own labels: Gildan®, ANVIL®, Comfort Colors®, Alstyle® and Gold Toe® brands. We also offer quite a selection of styles with garment labels which can easily be torn away, allowing easier personalization of the end products however in many countries, we need to have a PERMANENT label sewn in.
Certain colors such as these require a combination of natural colored fibers and pre-dyed fibers to achieve the heathered look, usually achieved by adding black dyed polyester fiber with the cotton fiber. In most cases the percentage of black fiber is easily identified. In other instances for shades like Safety Green, we have to incorporate 50% polyester into the blend to ensure the durability and color fastness which only polyester dyes can achieve.
Gildan® does not produce shirts with the Henley neckline. A Henley shirt is a collarless shirt with buttons down the front like a sport shirt.
Yes. Please contact the Gildan Marketing department at firstname.lastname@example.org to acquire our logo and brand usage guideline.
All knit fabrics are subject to variation of the end fabric weight due the very nature of the knitting and fabric handling process. In order to ensure the most consistent fabric weight possible Gildan deploys extensive quality measures ranging from our spinning operations to the end quality auditing processes after sewing. We have integrated sophisticated scanning processes within our dyeing and finishing operations to help ensure the utmost consistency. Gildan’s manufacturing operations have an acceptable quality standard of +/- 4% with a target performance tolerance of +/-2%. In real terms this means that if we advertise a fabric weight at 6.0oz/yard2 our manufacturing targets would range between 5.88 and 6.12oz/yard2. The acceptable quality standard of +/-4% would mean that any product inspected that fell below 5.76 oz/yard2 or was above 6.24 oz/yard2 would be considered a defect.
